About
Chrome Rust & Stone
Hi my name is Sally! I am a photographer based in Gawler, South Australia, with a keen interest in capturing the beauty of the world around us.
I developed a passion for photography at an early age. My Mother, Chris, is an avid photographer and visual artist. Born in Lusaka, Zambia in 1967; Mum captured my unique journey into the world, amidst the wild, rugged African plains, through the eye of the lens.
As a small child I often accompanied my father, Brian, a successful poet and accomplished Botanist, on science excursions and bush trips, snapping photos of the flora and fauna, along the way.
Today, I am sought after as a well-known bass guitarist, a published poet and arts educator (painting, drawing, sculpture).
I pride myself on my solid reputation for photography built on my core values:
Passion
Integrity
Honesty
Innovation
I am well respected in my field, creating a look and style that is recognisable and unique. I like to use an Olympus E – M 10 Mark 111 camera. I attach filters in order to tint the colours and “dry brush” the textures of my subject matter.
One of my favourite pastimes is to head off down a dusty dirt road in the back blocks for a photographic “reccie.”
I specialise in three distinctive styles of photography:
Chrome: Iconic muscle cars, vintage, veteran and classic vehicles from our past, which reflect an era of style, passion and enthusiasm.
Rust: Iconic Australian cars from our past, in particular, Holden’s and Fords. Many of these are depicted as rusted wrecks, representing a bygone era.
Stone: Old historic buildings found throughout the Australian outback, many of these buildings are in ruins and reflect the pioneering spirit of Australia.
Antiques, old cars…. Chrome, Rust and Stone, lie at the core of my being. I love capturing the drama and warmth of these objects and telling their story. Enjoy!
